Do’s and Don’ts for Diodenlaser Hair Removal Aftercare

Diodenlaser hair removal treatments introduce focused energy from intense pulsed light or laser light to the pigment of hair follicles thus causing damage preventing or reducing re-growth. Although the procedure is tested, approved, safe and effective there are possible side effects and risks post treatment.
Let’s talk about what to expect after a laser hair removal appointment.
Most experience no adverse effects after the laser hair removal procedure. However, you may have some sensitivity and there are best practices to ensure the most effective results.
The common recommendations for post treatment are:
12 hours do not shower, put on lotion, no deodorant or body lotion
2-3 weeks avoid intensive sun on the treated area and use sunscreen (50 SPF every 2.5 hours)
10-14 days no peeling, no creams containing bleaching agents or chemical peeling on the lasered area
Do not use self-tanner or visit a tanning bed for 4 weeks
72 hours redness and pustules may persist
Hyperpigmentation/darker spots may occur on a case-by-case basis.
Do not pluck, wax or epilate regrowing hair → ONLY shave.
Avoid any other type of skin treatment for 2 weeks after the procedure
Avoid makeup, deodorant, or other topical creams or medications for 24 hours
Drink enough fluids (min. 1.5 - 2 litres per day)
